The problem? I had no idea where to start, and the internet was full of advice that either assumed an unlimited budget or required skills I definitely didn't have. I spent hours trying to figure out which rug wouldn't look cheap, which plants would survive my windowless kitchen, and why my bookshelf always looked like a garage sale no matter how many times I reorganized it.
